63 of 100 ... Cooking for Lorraine

I think I really enjoy cooking.  Once things in the rest of my world have settled, I want to learn how to cook better.  Right now, it seems that soup is my specialty! And, it is soup season again! But I need to move beyond soup.  I got a magazine today that might encourage me ... I look forward to experimenting!  (and eating better!)

Goal Advancement for today:

R:  There is a woman at work - Lorraine.  A while ago, she was diagnosed with breast cancer.  Some women at work got together and encouraged us all to make something for Lorraine and her family so she would have food for her family.  I didn't contribute then (my own life was in a bit of a chaos mess), but this time I wanted to.  I figured chili was something I could afford to make ... these next few months are going to be tough because of where the paydays fall, but I thought chili I could manage.  Well, someone else (someone from the "inner circle") offered so I had to think of something else.  I found an easy recipe for hamburger soup, so I made a double recipe ... one for my meals for the coming week.  It turned out ok, and I'm glad I could contribute something as Lorraine is now going in for a double mastectomy. Anything to do with cancer makes me scared.

Gratitude:

1.  Today, I'm grateful for being able to get soup made for Lorraine and for myself! It was a super simple recipe and, from the little sampling I've done, it really tastes good!  I hope she likes it as much as I do.
2.  Today, I'm grateful for getting my nail fixed for free.  My nail split and I went to where I always go and they gave me a whole new nail and didn't charge me.
3.  Today, I'm grateful for making a bit more progress in my gratitude to the people who remembered me on my birthday.  It's something I wanted to do in past years and this year I've begun!  I think I'm about 1/2 done.
4.  Today, I'm grateful for my purchase.  I spent a bit more than I should have but I know I will use them well.  It is nice that even at the size I am that I can still find pretty things.  I am going to stay quiet on all else here.
5.  Today, I'm grateful for getting what I needed to get done and am able to get to bed before 10:30!  Tomorrow has to be an early morning so will close here and head to bed.  Fingers crossed that tomorrow can be a good day and I can get home at a good time!  (Dermatologist appointment tomorrow for cancer spot.)
