46 of 100 ... Today, I'm a Wheel

That's a statement my brother and nephew came up with ... to 'insult' someone without realizing they're being insulted, call them a wheel.  A wheel spins, but unless it has friction (or motivation), it goes no where.  It can make a lot of noise, it can sound like it's doing great things, but unless the rubber hits the road, the wheel is a bunch of air going in circles.  Today, I felt like a wheel.

Day's Results

Habits:
- Clean Sink: It will be before I go to bed.
- Cups of Water: 2
- Hours of sleep: 6h, 58min (awake 4x, restless 7x)

- Meds: yes
- Reading: no
- FoodRecord: no

FitBit Notes:
- 6221 steps

Goal Advancement for today:
Nothing really ... had a tough time focusing to do anything productive. So overwhelmed!
F: Made a visit to my bank to set a few things up for the months ahead. Hopefully I can change back soon.
(E-Environment, H:Health, F:Financial, PD: Prof/Personal Development, R: Relationships.)

Gratitude:
1.  Today, I'm grateful for getting a few things done around my place.  I'm not sure if it will be all cleaned before I go to Edmonton tomorrow, but some of it will be.  I don't know why I couldn't focus, but it was really tough for a bit. In the end, yes, some things got done.
2.  Today, I'm grateful for being able to recommend some good books to a friend who asked.  I don't read as much as I would like to, but it was nice to have something to suggest.
3.  Today, I'm grateful that I did come up with a solution to ease my anxiety, at least right now.  I know things can still change, but if they don't right away then at least a huge problem has been temporarily resolved.
4.  Today, I'm grateful that I don't throw things away - I have some nice clothes in a multitude of sizes.  Because I like what I buy, also check to see how easy it would be to adapt it to wear if/when I lose weight.  So, right now, I have more clothing items than I know what to do with!! and, at least a few of them fit.
5.  Today, I'm grateful that it's a 3-day weekend.  I should be staying home, but maybe a break is a good thing as well.  This year has been so difficult, one thing after another, without a break.  So, maybe this weekend can be like a little break.  Get away, come back refreshed, maybe then it will be easier to focus!

45 of 100 ... Cause Change and Lead ...

... accept change and survive; resist change and die.

I am not afraid of change; I'd rather not have to experience it quite so much and truly know what peace comes from stability, but I look at my state right now and know that things can be better.  I got some good advice from my supervisor at work and in a way, a blessing to start job hunting.  Not sure how this will play out, but it will be what it will be.   I need to cause the change, be proactive, move forward.  That is where I need to head.

Day's Results:

Habits:
- Clean Sink: No
- Cups of Water: 5
- Hours of sleep: 6h 12min

- Meds: yes
- Reading: no
- FoodRecord: no

FitBit Notes:
- 3633 steps ... didn't go for my walk at lunch!

Goal Advancement for today:
PD: I had a good talk with BT, and she gave me some good counsel about moving forward in a project culture.  I'm ticked off at some things at work and spoke to her about how to address it.  It was good to get it off my chest as well as see a way to deal with it. I've never really addressed something like this before, so it's good to get practice.
R: A gal at work is leaving and a group of us got together for lunch with her (hence, no lunch-time walk).  She is also someone I can see spending time with after.
(E-Environment, H:Health, F:Financial, PD: Prof/Personal Development, R: Relationships.)

Gratitude:
 1.  Today, I'm grateful for the talk I had with BT in her car. I know being honest can backfire, but I felt that is what I needed to do. And I release the consequences into His hands, trusting that whatever happens will be to my best.
2.  Today, I'm grateful for getting together with some people from work for lunch.  And after, we took some pictures and I "influenced" them to take an interesting one rather than a boring one with their heads at the same level!
3.  Today, I'm grateful for an interesting discussion with NB.  I really don't know what to think ... it really is a mess of communication, but I'm done fighting and getting upset over it.  So, it was nice to 'chat', even if it was over instant-messaging!
4.  Today, I'm really grateful for a good talk with my cousin TK.  Good counsel!
5.  Today, I'm grateful that I got through some TV shows and got them off the PVR.  If I'm useless in other areas, at least this is something I feel I can achieve before bed ... another one off the PVR!  And with the new season starting next week, I definitely need to get more off!

44 of 100 ... Operation Cobra continues!

I just need to carry this to my own resume!

- Meds: yes
- Reading: no

Goal Advancement for today:
H: I did get out to walk for 20 min today!
(E-Environment, H:Health, F:Financial, PD: Prof/Personal Development, R: Relationships.)

Gratitude:
1/ Today, I'm grateful for the beautiful weather to walk in!
2/ Today, I'm grateful for the wonderful smells on the walk! - freshly mown grass, flowers ...
3/ Today, I'm grateful for apps on phones so I don't have to bring my debit card to Starbucks!  Man, the impact of technology!  I remember in high school, reading a book called The Vision by David Wilkerson (written in 1970) and the predictions this person made.  This was before VCRs.  I should find that book again and see how much of it has come to pass because I know that some of it definitely has. And 'paying' from my personal phone is definitely something that I read somewhere a long time ago.
4/ Today, I'm grateful that things are slowly being cleaned up - the dead tree branches are being collected, the trees are being cut down, the debris is being removed.
5/ Today, I'm grateful that I got to revisit how to write a cover letter ... I got to help RA with hers and, now, to transfer this to me and mine.

43 of 100 ... Non-Competitive in a Competition

Sometimes the corporate world baffles me ... they do some of the stupidest things!  We are having this competition at work ... the point?  to get points to win.  Why do it?  to change behavior? to kill trees? to do someone's job? because they don't think we have enough to do?  I suspect there is a legitimate reason but they have no clue what it is, much less communicate to us what it is!  My world used to revolve around "what's the objective?", "how are you going to do it?" and "did you achieve it?" ... and the joy of those -2s (non-academics who would not do a thing unless they personally saw the use in it!) ... if they don't see it, they don't do it.  Sometimes I think some of those who get the big bucks should do what I did, for the money I did it at, and get a real lesson in how to create a "competition" that works.  *sigh

Day's Report
(speaking of a process that brings a result ... how am I doing on that?  Evaluation come Day 50!)

Habits:
- Clean Sink: no
- Cups of Water: 4
- Hours of sleep: 5h 33m (2x awake, 8x restless)

- Meds: yes
- Reading: no
- FoodRecord: no

FitBit Notes:
- 6368 steps

Goal Advancement for today:
H: As part of the competition, I decided to walk 20 min every lunch.  We really have no leader, so I'm going to lead myself.  I walked 20 min. today.  Misplaced my coffee, but I did walk!
E: Cleaned my car out of boxes? blah
 (E-Environment, H:Health, F:Financial, PD: Prof/Personal Development, R: Relationships.)

Gratitude:
1/ Today, I'm grateful for getting out to walk, even when no one joined me.  I wore my new runners and I took my time.  It was the first since the diagnosis, so it was a little tough.  But I went through with it!
2/ Today, I'm grateful for throwing up before midnight. I hate doing it, but when I have to, good to do it before midnight, because then I can sleep until morning!
3/ Today, I'm grateful for my new clothes.  Nice to wear pants that fit well!
4/ Today, I'm grateful for it being a short week.  Parts of my work I enjoy, parts leave me frustrated ... but every time, I'm glad when I have a short week!
5/ Today I'm grateful for thinking quickly on my feet - I did a HUGE oops and was able to get myself out of a potentially ugly situation by re-focusing on to something I genuinely wanted to know.  (I instant-messaged the wrong person at work and turned it into a request for information on what the future is for me.  Turned out really good!)

42 of 100 ... A Lovely Sunday

Ok ... not as productive as I wanted, but definitely a few good things checked off my list! I tried on my "interview outfit" today and it will be good.  Everything fits well and that's wonderful!

Habits:
- Clean Sink: yes
- Cups of Water: 4
- Hours of sleep: 7h, 39m (7x awake, 31x restless)

- Meds: yes
- Reading: no
- FoodRecord: no

FitBit Notes:
- 3146 steps ... yuck!

Goal Advancement for today:

P:
Worked on my resume, not yet done.  Am doing some major re-structuring and want to make sure I hit some key things. Resumes are not easy to do! ... not good ones, anyway!
(E-Environment, H:Health, F:Financial, PD: Prof/Personal Development, R: Relationships.)

Gratitude:

1/ Today, I'm grateful for getting that last piece for my interview outfit at 40% off.
2/ Today, I'm grateful for a good night's sleep.
3/ Today, I'm grateful for a shower!  Running water that is very warm/hot/clean is such a blessing!!!  So many people in our world don't have that and after every shower, I take a moment to feel how wonderful it is to be clean!!
4/ Today, I'm grateful for getting almost all my laundry caught up!  including all the sweaters I found!
5/ Today, I'm grateful for getting invited to go to Edmonton with an old teaching colleague of mine!   I know the time should be spent for my storage, but I need a break.  And I will take things with me. I'm so grateful that CD thought to ask me to go with her!

41 of 100 ... Operation Cobra!

A while ago, a friend lost her job.  I decided I would help her prepare and apply for her next one, and in that process, I was hoping I would be motivated to do the same for myself.  Today, both things came together, at the same time, for the same purpose ... so Operation Cobra has officially begun! For real!

 Habits:
- Clean Sink: yes
- Cups of Water: 3
- Hours of sleep: 7ish (didn't log it)

- Meds: yes (almost forgot!)
- Reading: no
- FoodRecord: no

FitBit Notes:
- 5042 steps ... this is the FIRST time on a weekend that I got over 5000 steps!

Goal Advancement for today:

P: I found a job to apply for and began to create a resume to the job.  I plan to finish it and send it tomorrow.  It's a bit of a long shot, but definitely something I'd want to do in the future.

H:  I bought myself some really good, really nice walking shoes!  Asics - with a gel liner.  I was going to get a running shoe, but they were a bit much, I thought, to be starting there.  Let me wear these out first!
(E-Environment, H:Health, F:Financial, PD: Prof/Personal Development, R: Relationships.)

Gratitude:

1.  Today, I'm grateful for an income - I probably spent too much money today, but everything I bought, I'll use.  From clothing for interview and work, to the most unique MAC palette I've ever seen, to good shoes for work and walking.  I love wearing heels, but with my ankles as they are, I need something better than my Bobs suede flats, and these seem to fit both requirements - a bit of a heel at the same time, something comfortable and walkable!
2.  Today, I'm grateful to have been able to to help my friend RA with her resume.  I really enjoy helping people create a good resume for the job they want, finding creative ways to fill the gaps, helping them prepare for the process. And, by helping her, I was able to immediately apply it to creating my own new resume!
3. Today, I'm grateful to find out that there are a ton of jobs out there ...sadly, one of my friends from AMEC just took one and will be leaving.  She gave me great advice and I intend to put it to use right away ... which means I need to really plan my time wisely - two fold focus: job and storage!  What she told me was a bit scary for the future of all of us who are still working there!  Things will be VERY different come the new year!
4.  Today, I'm grateful for medication - for the anticoagulants that keep my blood thin so I don't die from a clot, to the diuretics that keep my ankles from swelling, to the antidepressants that keep my head out of the dark hole!
5.  Today, I'm grateful for the excitement of opportunity.  It felt good to imagine what my next job will be like! I have a job now, and when you have a job is the time to start looking for your next job! So, as the writing is on the wall of big changes ahead, it's time to be proactive and find another train to jump on before the one I'm on derails!

ADDED:  Photos from the MAC Quad I got today ... It's called "That Trillion Dollar Look" - colours: Lisa's Spikes, Apple Squishee, 2 Dozen and One Greyhounds. and Chalkboard Dreams.  And they look very different than what you see here in the photo (which is pretty true to their colours in the container!).

40 of 100 ... Stuffed like a Sausage!

There are days when an "opportunity" presents itself and I really should know better.  But no, my stomach 'wins' out and then I pay for it!  Great dinner, sad sad evening and night! I need to rea something on how to stop sabotaging myself!!  (Maybe I should start by reading something!!)

 Habits:
- Clean Sink: yes
- Cups of Water: 3
- Hours of sleep:7h, 9m

- Meds: yes
- Reading: no
- FoodRecord: no

FitBit Notes:

Goal Advancement for today:

No plan for Friday, but did make one for tomorrow.
(E-Environment, H:Health, F:Financial, PD: Prof/Personal Development, R: Relationships.)

Gratitude:

1.  I'm grateful today to have been able to go out for dinner with VG.  We went to Red Lobster for their "all you can eat shrimp" ... Next time I need to prepare myself a bit more! Such a sore stomach!! But I did have a really nice time with Vicky.
2.  I'm grateful today for the lovely weather!  It's back!  Even though there are signs of destruction all around - branches broken and small mountains of branches all over, waiting to be picked up - I know that in a year, we will hardly know or remember this slip in weather!
3.  I'm grateful today that I spoke up (sorta - through email) about what is needed to win for this competition at work.  I get so frustrated with certain things at work so this time, I let things go as per course and then I sent  out an email, making a few suggestions.  What they do with it is up to them.  But I felt good about how I handled a rather aggravating situation.
4.  I'm grateful today that it's a Friday ... here's to hoping the weekend ahead is a good one!  So much I want to have done by Monday, I'm sure I won't have enough time.  But if I can have a little done, that would be great!
5.  I'm grateful today that nice weather is ahead.  Maybe I can get a significant dent in my storage done over this next weekend and coming week!
